Retail
Shelf space is determined by sales velocity (margin of profit and volume.)
"Econometrics show distribution tends to be the single biggest factor driving long-term growth for many brands" — How Not to Plan
"Don't underestimate the importance of just making things easy for buyers. Few people in the real world have the time or inclination to seek out your brand" — How Not to Plan
Two distribution models
Direct-store delivery
Producers deliver their product directly to the store and stock their own selves, resulting in better placement and more square footage
Warehouse
Producers deliver their product to the store's warehouse, who then stock the product for them, meaning placement is completely up to the store, and they have to pay "slotting fees"
